About Us
The Coach
Mr. James SM Yap has had more than 20 years experience coaching Learn-to-Swim and Competitive Training classes in several swimming clubs in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Seremban since mid-1988. Currently he is the Head Coach of Sunway Swimming and also the appointed coach of Sunway University College and Monash University Malaysia.
His students has participated in age-group swimming championship and has won numerous awards at state and national level. Among his notable achievements lately are Leanne, Quentin and Livvy who among them have collectively won 106 gold, 38 sliver and 10 bronze through the years of 2005 - 2010 at the State Schools Sports Council Swimming Championship (MSSMNS).
Leanne won the Overall Individual Champion Award for Group 1 Women in 2009 and 2010.
Livvy won the Overall Individual Champion Award for Group 2,3&4 Women in 2005,2007,2008,2009 and 2010. She also bag the coveted Outstanding Athlete Award (Atlet Cemerlang) in 2008..
Quentin currently holds the Record for Group 2 Men Backstroke 50m set in 2010.
Mr. James SM Yap is a certified coach for ‘Learn – To – Swim’ Programs and Competitive Swimming Programs by the Association Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) and a Sports Science candidate certified by the National Sports Council of Malaysia (NSC).
