1) Who is the coach and his qualifications & experience?
My name is James SM Yap, and I have been coaching ‘Learn - To – Swim’ and Competitive Training on a full time basis for more than 20 years since mid – 1988. Currently I am the Head Coach of Sunway Swimming and the appointed coach for Monash University Malaysia and Sunway University in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya.
I am operating with a team of assistant coaches who among them are former competitive swimmers who has graced the local scene at state & national level championships.
2) What is the age range of your students?
From 5 - 65 years old.
3) What is in your first course of 12 lessons?

Subsequent courses incl. 5) Is the ASUM assessment test compulsory?
It is NOT compulsory. It is up to the individual.
6) Who conducts the assessment for ASUM Badges and Certifications?
The assessment is conducted by an examiner assigned by the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM).
7) If I do not wish to sit for the ASUM assessment test, can I request for a testimonial?
Yes, you may request for a testimonial upon successful completion of a course.
8) How often do I have to attend classes?
Normally once or twice weekly for a duration of 8 – 16 weeks per course.
9) What is the duration per lesson?
Duration per lesson is sixty (60) minutes.
10) If I miss any classes, can I have a replacement?

11) What’s the size of your class?
For Beginner and ASUM Level 1 to 3 – NOT MORE THAN SIX (6) STUDENTS PER INSTRUCTOR PER CLASS.
For Advance and ASUM Level 4 to 6 – NOT MORE THAN EIGHT (8) STUDENTS PER INSTRUCTOR PER CLASS.
12) When do I move on to Pre-Competitive Training?
After you have completed and pass ASUM level 4.
13) When do I move on to Life – Saving?
After you have completed and pass ASUM level 6.
14) What do I bring along for classes?
Just bring along proper swimming attire, goggles, swim cap (for ladies) and towels.

15) How do I avoid the traffic jam on weekdays esp. for the Thursday and Friday classes?

16) What are the promotional activities do you provide for your swimmers?
i) Tri – monthly ASUM assessment test, in order to gauge the progress of the swimmers.

17) May i request for a female instructor?
Among our team of coaches three (3) are ladies
18) I am water phobia to the extreme, do u think i can be successful in my quest in knowing how to swim?
Through the years, many students with water phobia has completed the course with us successfully. I can assure you that you are not the exceptional one. Learning swimming with us is fun n easy. Our assistant coaches shall accompany you in the pool and guide you patiently. Before you know it, you will be swimming on your own.
